Objective:
Conduct prebreeding activities using synthetic wheats and major US cultivars to provide agronomically suitable FHB resistan germplasm to US collaborators; conduct worldwide search adn acquisition of suitable FHB resistant germplasm and make this available to USWBSI; test germplasm thorugh International Nursery System.

Approach:
Provide elite germplasm of bread wheat, synthetic wheat and barley to the USWBSI for greenhouse multiplication and distribution in the US; conduct pre-breeding activities using synthetic wheats and major US cultivars to ensure the ultimate transfer of agronomically suitable, FHB resistant germplasm to US collaborators; conduct a worldwide search and acquire suitable FHB resistant germplasm to make it available to the USWBSI as soon as possible; including access to further sources of resistance from many countries including China, to complement materials presently available in the US, such as Sumai 3, Frontana, and Wuhan; Test germplasm from the US and other countries through the International Nursery System.
