Objective:
Implement marker-assisted selection in the scab breeding and germplasm enhancement programs in South Dakota.

Approach:
Adopt publicly available SSR markers to SDSU spring and winter wheat breeding programs and the USWBSI germplasm program; characterize our elite materials for their association with SSR markers; and develop new EST-derived markers for scab resistance.
