Research Project: FACILITATE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW MOLECULAR MARKERS FOR WHEAT

Location: Plant Science and Entomology Research

Project Number: 5430-21000-005-05
Project Type: Specific C/A

Start Date: Jul 01, 2002
End Date: Sep 30, 2005

Objective:
The objectives for this specific cooperative agreement is to facilitate research as part of a large cooperative project to develop methodology for new molecular markers in wheat that can be used for development of improved wheat germplasm.

Approach:
Utilize cytogenetic and molecular techniques to map and evaluate disease resistance genes in wheat germplasm to enhance productivity and quality. Facilitate the development of improved molecular methods for enhancing resistance and/or tolerance to disease.
