Objective:
Produce, purify, encapsulate and deliver to ARS bacteriocins for pathogen challenge trials in live poultry.

Approach:
Using bacterial isolates from animal production environments, determine and identify strains antagonistic to Salmonella and human pathogenic E. coli and characterize the most important bacteriocins. Assure the viable producing and inducing cultures responsible for expression of the five bacteriocins are delivered properly to ARS.
