Information on Local Studies
COMET Study 1:
Primarily for meteorologists... A
detailed meteorological overview of the May 17, 1999 derecho that caused
widespread wind damage across parts of the Paducah County Warning Area. There
are numerous very large AVI and JPG files, so download time may be excessive.
However, it is worth the wait for these quality radar and satellite loops. This
training sequence was put together by Pat Spoden, SOO at the Paducah office.
COMET Study 2:
Also primarily for meteorologists... A detailed
meteorological overview of the May 5, 1996 derecho. This event also caused
considerable wind damage across the Paducah County Warning Area. There are fewer huge AVI
and JPG files, however, download time may be several minutes for a few files.
You may want to visit the COMET
website.
