SUBCOMMITTEE TO EXAMINE THE ROLE OF EFFICIENCY PROGRAMS
AND RENEWABLE RESOURCES IN MEETING U.S. ENERGY DEMAND
WASHINGTON, D.C. The Subcommittee on
Energy will hold a hearing tomorrow to examine the potential
contribution of energy efficiency and renewable energy
to the nations energy needs, and how federal programs
can help promote efficiency and renewables.
The hearing will address the likely U.S. energy needs
for the coming decades and will review state and federal
programs that have been the most successful in promoting
energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy resources.
Additionally, industry witnesses will discuss initiatives
implemented in the private sector aimed at increasing
energy conservation. A witness representing DuPont,
for example, will explain how his company has managed
to keep its energy usage constant since 1990, while
at the same time increasing productivity by 40 percent.
