OCTOBER STREAMFLOWS MOSTLY NORMAL
RESERVOIR STORAGE VARIES

Out of eight long-term U.S. Geological Survey gaging stations, the monthly mean streamflow for October was normal at five, above normal at two, and below normal at one. The stations with normal flow included:
  • Yaak River near Troy
  • Blackfoot River near Bonner
  • Clark Fork at St. Regis
  • Yellowstone River at Corwin Springs
  • Yellowstone River at Billings

The Middle Fork Flathead River near West Glacier and Rock Creek below Horse Creek near International boundary had above-normal flow and the Marias River near Shelby remained below normal.

Water storage for October at six major hydroelectric reservoirs in Montana remained normal at four and below normal at two. Storage was normal for Canyon Ferry Lake, Lake Koocanusa, Hungry Horse Reservoir and Flathead Lake. Fort Peck and Bighorn Lakes remained below normal.

Water storage for October at four major irrigation reservoirs was normal at one and below normal at three. Lima Reservoir remained normal and Clark Canyon, Gibson, and Fresno Reservoirs had below normal storage for the month.
