Deployment Branch
Mission
Plans, coordinates, manages, develops and executes the fielding of Defense Travel System, for all DoD Services and Agencies/Activities worldwide. Identifies functional and technical issues to determine the impact of fielding the Defense Travel System.
Functions
  • Serves as liaison between deployment sites, contractor, and project management staff during DTS fielding.
  • Provides functional and technical expertise to assist the user communities achieve initial operational capability (IOC).
  • Executes the implementation of travel services to DoD and selected agencies worldwide.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates PMO-DTS input and participates in both government and industry workshops and conferences.
  • Coordinates with non-DoD activities in training and deployment of DTS.
  • Plans and executes system training and deployment in accordance with the deployment schedule.
  • Conducts specialized studies, surveys, analyses, and projects, as directed.
  • Staffs and operates the Deployment Support Team for the fielding of DTS.

Operations Branch
Mission
Plans, develops, implements and manages the daily operation of the Defense Travel System for all DoD Services and Agencies. Provides direction on all system functional and technical activities to ensure that the Defense Travel System remains operational for DoD users worldwide.
Functions
  • Serves as Point Of Contact for the Defense Travel System operational sites and the prime contractor for all DTS operational issues.
  • Provides functional and technical support to all operational sites and users.
  • Provides liaison between the prime contractor and other DoD system interfaces.
  • Develops and executes transition and cutover plans for each DTS software release.
  • Provides guidance and support for the DTS Tier 3 Help Desk operation.
  • Plans for and schedules software and hardware upgrades for the DTS system.
  • Schedules routine and emergency maintenance activities for the DTS system.
  • Plans for emergencies, backup and recovery, and Continuity of Operations (COOP).
  • Performs special projects, studies and analysis as required.
