The following is a list of the major changes to this web over the last several months, with the most recent changes shown first:

01/28/04-  Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.06 updated to version 1.07 effective January 28, 2004. Version 1.07 allows for the reporting of the ILS/MLS System Identifier for associated NAVAIDS. The position of several Fields (60-67) were modified to accommodate this change. Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) associated with an MLS System will now be reported as an MLSDME. See Announcement for more details.

08/13/03-  Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.05 will be updated to version 1.06 effective August 13, 2003. Version 1.06 will report the point on the the runway centerline extended nearest to ILS marker beacon antennas and several distances relative to the centerline extended point. See Announcement for more details.

05/1/03-  A limited number of Obstruction Data Sheets (ODS) for previous Airport Obstruction Charts are now available in pdf format. The Data Sheets can be accessed via links on the DOLE (Dates of Latest Editions).

03/13/02Interactive ARP computation utility to compute the approximate geometric center of all usable runways at an Airport.

02/10/01-  Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.04 will be updated to version 1.05 effective January 10, 2001. Version 1.05 will have an additional subsection within the Navigational Aid section for reporting radar components associated with STARS surveys. See Announcement for more details.

09/13/99-  Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.03 will be updated to version 1.04 effective October 1, 1999. Version 1.04 will report all date fields as a numeric 7-digit field (DDDYYYY). See Announcement for more details.

02/22/99-  The NGS publication "Runway End, Stopway End, and Displaced Threshold Identification for Surveyors" has been added to the online list.  A Slide Show outlining the Aeronautical Survey Program has been added to the "About Us" page.

01/22/99-  The Aeronautical Survey Tracking Report has been improved to show detailed requirements by the FAA, and to link airports directly to their UDDF files.  The "Other Aeronautical Data" section now contains diagrams of the FAR Part 77 Obstruction Surfaces.

11/01/98-  Our new Home Page and site layout was implemented.   Explore the site to see all the new and planned features for our web site.   Please provide any comments to our Aeronautical Survey Program web managers--Mark Howard and Jon Swallow

10/8/98 - Change 1 to FAA No. 405, "Standards for Aeronautical Surveys and Related Products," 4th ed. (September 1996) is now available in .pdf format.
A free .pdf reader can be downloaded from the Adobe Web Site-- Download Acrobat Reader.

The "Supplemental Instructions for Airport Area Navigation Approach (ANA) Surveys, Establishment of Geodetic Control on Airports" version 2.0, July 24, 1998 is now available in .pdf and MicroSoft Word Format. Go To SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTIONS Page

9/2/98 - The DOLE (Dates of Latest Editions), a tabulation of published Airport Obstruction Charts (AOC's), listed alphabetically by state, then associated city, then airport name, is now available. Also listed are FAA identifier, AOC Number, edition number and AOC publication date.

8/17/98 - NGS now provides source data to support the ANA (Area Navigation Approach) programs. The data includes runway, navigational aid, obstruction, and other aeronautical information to support precision and nonprecision instrument approach procedure development for conventional landing aircraft using area navigation systems, such as, GPS. This information is available in the Universal Data Delivery Format.

UDDF files containing Area Navigation Approach (ANA) survey data will be posted when available. The files will contain the same type of information that is currently provided in UDDF files reporting Airport Obstruction Chart (AOC) surveys. The obstruction information (Obstruction Data section) in UDDF files reporting an ANA survey will reflect ANA Obstruction Identification Surface (OIS).(see GENERAL DESCRIPTION ).

The UDDF files containing Area Navigation Approach (ANA) survey data will have an extension ".ANA". UDDF files containing obstruction information for both ANA and FAR-77 OIS will have an extension ".CMB" (combined). Prior to this date, UDDF files containing AOC survey data were posted with an extension TXT. These files will now be posted with an extension ".F77". The obstruction information in UDDF files reporting an AOC survey will reflect FAR-77 OIS. (see CONVENTIONS ).

4/27/98 - Change 1 to FAA No. 405, "STANDARDS FOR AERONAUTICAL SURVEYS AND RELATED PRODUCTS" Fourth Edition, is now current. See (What's New 10/8/98) above for more information.

4/27/98 - Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.02 has been updated to version 1.03 effective April 20, 1998. All previous UDDF files are posted under version 1.01 or 1.02.

Version 1.03 contains a policy change in the reporting of ARP (Airport Reference Point). The Latitude and Longitude positions will now be reported to the tenth of a second.
Version 1.03 will report the penetration of objects in the Horizontal, Conical and Transitional Obstruction Identification Surfaces (OIS)

4/4/97 - FAA No. 405, "STANDARDS FOR AERONAUTICAL SURVEYS AND RELATED PRODUCTS" Third Edition, has been updated to Edition Four. Data and products resulting from Aeronautical surveys conducted on or after October 1, 1996, will be in accordance with Edition 4 standards. To order this publication, contact NGS Information Services Branch.

4/4/97 - Universal Data Delivery Format (UDDF) version 1.01 has been updated to version 1.02 effective April 4, 1997. All previous UDDF files are posted under version 1.01.

Version 1.02 contains a policy change in the reporting of NAVAID offset and associated distances. The offset direction L (left) or R (right) in the "NAVAID OFFSET DISTANCE" field is relative to an observer facing forward in a landing aircraft.
The associated distance of Instrument Landing System glide slope (GS) and Microwave Landing System elevation guidance (MLSEL) facilities will be shown as negative (-) in the "NAVAID ASSOCIATED DISTANCES" field when the NAVAID perpendicular point is on the approach side of the runway approach end. The associated distance of localizer (LOC), localizer type directional aid (LDA), Microwave Landing System azimuth guidance (MLSAZ), and simplified directional (SDF) facilities will be shown as negative (-) in the "NAVAID ASSOCIATED DISTANCES" field when the NAVAID perpendicular point is on the approach side of the runway stop end
