DRCPT is committed to improving public health by facilitating effective collaboration and communication so as to achieve efficient translation of NIEHS programs into public health and the practice of medicine. |

Function: |
DRCPT achieves its mission through:
- Overall guidance, planning, and evaluation for NIEHS research and training programs related to environmental exposures and their impact on individual and population health.
- Coordination of intramural, extramural, and interagency activities to achieve optimal research productivity.
- Publication of Environmental Health Perspectives, the nation's leading journal for conveying current results in the field of environmental health research to scientific and lay audiences.
- Communication and information activities, within and beyond the Institute, to ensure that NIEHS findings effectively reach internal, public, and professional audiences and that all facets of the American public can participate in developing NIEHS research priorities.
- Management of strategic information resources and services that maximize research in environmental health.
- Translational efforts to extend NIEHS research results into information, resources, and tools that can be used by public health and medical professionals and by the public to improve overall health and well-being, especially in vulnerable populations.
