  Overview:
  • Cyprus Water Resources Databases Development: This project, which was completed in 2003, assisted Greek and Turkish Cypriot water managers to develop electronic databases designed to store their water resources data. In addition, the USGS hosted seven water-related training events and a host of computer-related training events.

  • Ukraine: Since 1998, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has provided technical assistance, such as snowmelt runoff modeling and GIS (geographic information system) mapping, to the Ukrainian Land and Resource Management Center (ULRMC) for flood management in Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine.  USAID also provides funds to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to work in partnership with the ULRMC and the State Water Management Committee (SWMC) of Ukraine to collect and display real-time hydrologic data.
