• Science recently highlighted the development and public deployment of the Midwinter Bald Eagle Count searchable database, a cooperative project among the NBII's Bird Conservation and Pacific Northwest Information Nodes, the Northwest Alliance for Computational Science and Engineering (NACSE), and the U.S. Geological Survey's Snake River Field Station. The site provides access to results of Midwinter Bald Eagle Surveys conducted from 1986-2000 along 563 routes in 42 states. These annual surveys, coordinated by the Snake River Field Station, involve several hundred individuals who count eagles along standard, non-overlapping survey routes across the nation. In addition to providing summary trend information on eagle populations, the site also allows users to query for raw-count data by state, route, and coordinates.

The highlight is a searchable database which covers genetically engineered crop plants intended for food or feed that have completed all recommended or required reviews for food, feed or planting use in the United States.

The The Point Reyes Bird Observatory is partnering with the NBII's California Information Node to provide data on bird populations , particularly in riparian and floodplain areas. These data will be used in conjuction with information gathered in the CALFED Bay-Delta Program project, one of the biggest large river and riparian area restoration projects in the nation, which focuses on waterways created at the junction of the San Francisco Bay and the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers.

The Chronic Wasting Disease Alliance is a coalition of non-profit wildlife and hunting groups committed to providing timely, scientifically accurate information regarding chronic wasting disease, its impacts on wildlife and humans, and recommendations for its control. In addition to news, occurrence maps, print-ready resources, and guidance for hunters, the Web site also tracks federal, state, and provincial legislation and policy related to CWD.
