The HIV Immunology and Diagnostics Branch, DASTLR, conducts basic and applied studies of microbial-host interactions that occur in infections, particularly infection with HIV. Studies are conducted on diagnostics, natural history, mechanisms of infection, immunopathogenesis, and the biology of host-microbe interaction. These studies are conducted to improve diagnostic accuracy, to analyze and distinguish effective versus deleterious immune responses, and to identify targets for immune intervention. |
