Clinical Practice Roadmaps series
The AMA promotes the integration of disease prevention and health promotion into clinical practice with this new series.

Health disparities
The AMA stands committed to the elimination of racial and ethnic health care disparities.

Disaster preparedness and emergency response
As the threat of terrorist attacks and other public health emergencies remains a concern, the AMA offers training for physicians and other health professionals through its National Disaster Life Support (NDLS) Program.  

Obesity
The AMA is working to halt the spread of obesity, which kills more Americans every year than AIDS, all cancers and all accidents combined. 

Adolescent health
The AMA Program on Child and Adolescent Health offers information on adolescent health topics such bullying, reproductive health, nutrition, fitness, mental health and substance abuse.

Alcohol abuse
The Office of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse administers initiatives to reduce underage alcohol abuse.

Geriatric health
The AMA's program on Aging and Community Health addresses topics of geriatric health such as older driver safety, caregiver health and dementia.

Violence prevention
The AMA is advised by the National Advisory Council on Violence and Abuse and other member organizations on effective strategies and programs to eliminate family violence in our society.

Federation of State Physician Health Programs
The Federation of State Physician Health Programs is a non-profit organization, administered by the AMA, which is committed to issues related to physician health and impairment.

National Patient Safety Foundation
The mission of the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) is to measurably improve patient safety in the delivery of health care.

Medicine and Public Health Initiative 
The Medicine and Public Health Initiative (M/PHI) is a working alliance between the AMA and the American Public Health Association to promote public health efforts at national, state and local levels.
