To increase the
velocity of environmental progress
by implementing "a better way ..."
My goal is to increase the velocity of environmental progress by implementing "a
better way." In my introductory remarks to the Agency in December,
I referenced my practice of using a 500-day plan.
Since then, I have repeatedly articulated many
of the elements of that plan. My 500-day
plan is publically posted here because I feel it
is important that everyone understand how those
pieces fit into the larger plan, and how that plan
aligns with the operating and strategic plans of
the Agency.
Please note that the plan has a 5,000-day horizon;
it is both flexible and dynamic. Finally, the
plan will be reviewed and updated every 200 days.
Our first 200-day update was completed in
June 2004. It too is published here, along with
a cataloguing of the milestones we have reached
in our first 200 days.
I invite your thoughts.

"I enjoy solving problems. I am guided by
selected long-term goals. I then rely on a 500-day
plan to create a timetable of short term actions
that move toward achievement of the long-term
goal. It's a 500-day plan with a 5,000-day horizon."
