The Immediate Office of the Inspector General provides the Inspector
General and Deputy Inspector General with staff assistance on the full
range of their responsibilities and administers a comprehensive Professional
Responsibility and Quality Assurance program that ensures the adequacy
of OIG compliance and internal control programs. In addition, the Immediate
Office oversees the Ombudsman program to provide OIG employees with confidential

within OIG and works toward improving the overall quality of worklife
for OIG employees.

Office of Quality Assurance and Professional Responsibility
The Office of Quality Assurance and Professional Responsibility
has two major functions: quality assurance for all of the subordinate
components within OIG, and professional responsibility investigations.
The quality assurance function is designed to: (1) foster organizational
standardization; (2) ensure compliance with applicable standards and practices,
and (3) ensure that the products from each OIG component are of the highest
quality. Quality assurance reviews for OIG offices are divided into three
major components: Program; Administrative, and Internal and External Relations.
The Office of Professional Responsibility investigates allegations of
misconduct by OIG employees.

Office of the OMBUDSMAN
The Office of the Ombudsman was established in May 2001 in the Office
of the Inspector General (OIG) to provide OIG employees with confidential
and informal assistance for resolving work-related conflicts, disputes
and grievances; to promote fair and equitable treatment within the OIG;
and to work towards improving the overall quality of worklife for the
OIG employees. The Office of the Ombudsman offers effective, efficient
and innovative dispute resolution services and helps people to use non-adversarial
approaches to resolve disputes. The Ombudsman does not take formal
notice on behalf of the Agency on grievances, or EEO/sexual harassment
complaints.
