Drinking Water
Infrastructure Needs Survey
|
The 1996 SDWA Amendments directed EPA to conduct a
survey of the infrastructure needs facing public water systems every
four years - with the first report published in 1997. The second
survey released in 2001 estimates that drinking water systems will
need to invest $150.9 billion over a 20 year period to ensure the
continued provision of safe drinking water. Results from the
survey are used to develop a formula to allot Drinking
Water State Revolving Fund grants. |
Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey
The purpose of this information collection is to identify the infrastructure
needs of community public water-systems for the 20-year period from
January 2003 through December 2022. EPA is soliciting for this information
in this announcement. Comments must be received or post-marked on or
before September 16, 2002. For more information contact David Travers

The Clean Water and Drinking Water Infrastructure Gap Analysis
Report (EPA 816-R-02-020, September 2002) discusses a potential
gap between projected investment needs and projected spending for
drinking water and wastewater infrastructure. The report provides
an important empirical basis for discussions addressing the critical
needs of our nation's water infrastructure.
