Allotment of
DWSRF Funds
(FY2002-FY2005)
The allotment of DWSRF State grants is derived from State drinking water
needs identified in the most recent Drinking Water Needs Survey.
Results from the second Needs
Survey were published in February 2001. Each State must
receive a minimum of 1% of the national appropriation available to States.
EPA will notify each State of their allotment
from a specific fiscal year’s appropriation after the final budget has
been passed. The table below contains
each State’s DWSRF allotment based on annual appropriations. The
FY 2002 appropriation was $850 million. The FY 2003 allotment
of $850 million was decreased to $844,475,000 to reflect an Agency budget
reduction of 0.65%.
The amount available to states from the national
appropriation is reduced through national set-asides. The national set-asides
include funds for American Indian and Alaska Native Village water systems
at the level of 1.5 percent of the total appropriation. (SDWA Section
1452(i)). Additional national set-asides include
funds for monitoring for unregulated contaminants and operator certification
expense reimbursement grants.
