Operator Certification Working Group

Working Group Mission Statement

To provide advice, recommendations, and development assistance to the National Drinking Water Advisory Council on the requirements relating to operator certification provisions of the 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments. The requirements are: (1) information development of recommended operator certification requirements for States; (2) development of guidelines specifying minimum standards for certification and recertification of operators and approval of State operator certification programs; (3) 20% withholding of a State's DWSRF allotment if approved certification program is not adopted and implemented; and (4) expense reimbursement of training and certification of costs for operators of systems serving 3,300 people or fewer who are required to undergo training as a result of Federal requirements.
