Multifactor Productivity (MFP) measures the changes in output per unit of combined inputs. Indexes of MFP are produced for the private business, private nonfarm business, and manufacturing sectors of the economy. MFP is also developed for 2-and 3-digit Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) manufacturing industries, the railroad transportation industry, the air transportation industry, and the utility and gas industry

  • Revisions to Capital Inputs for the BLS Multifactor Productivity Measures
  • Changes in the Composition of Labor, 2002 (PDF 136K) BLS Multifactor Productivity (MFP) measures for 2002 are not yet available and a publication date has not been scheduled. When updated to 2002, the MFP measures will be based on the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). Until source data from other statistical agencies become available, the conversion of the MFP measures to NAICS cannot be completed.
