ESTME - Excellence in Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Education
ESTME Week Ask a Scientist or Engineer ESTME Expo
Ask a Scientist or Engineer

The National Science Foundation's (NSF) National Science Digital Library (NSDL) invites you to "Ask a Scientist or Engineer."

"Why do we have eyelashes?"
"How do airplanes fly?"
"Where do bugs go in the winter?"
"How does a cell phone work?"

These are just a few of the thousands of questions children, parents, teachers and others can ask of scientists or engineers on the National Science Digital Library Web site at http://nsdl.org.

In our rapidly changing world, we look to scientists and engineers for creativity and innovation to meet the scientific, technological and mathematical challenges that lie before us. With outstanding skill and vision, these dedicated professionals strive each day to improve our lives, making a difference in almost every aspect of human experience. From improving health care to protecting the environment, from building the information superhighway to strengthening the global economy, scientists and engineers make invaluable contributions to our world, and promise us a future of even greater health and prosperity.

Additionally, the National Science Foundation established the National Science Digital Library to catalyze and support continual improvement in the quality of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education. Developed through a cooperative effort of educators, scientists and content providers, the National Science Digital Library is envisioned as one of the most comprehensive digital educational networks in the world.
