Dozens of Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicles have been assigned to Hurricane Charley disaster relief operations and will be distributing food and supplies.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the American Red Cross and other Federal, state and local agencies in support of Florida to assist the residents who were impacted by Hurricane Charley.

SBA will have personnel onsite, working in the Disaster Field Office that is being established by FEMA and the Florida Emergency Management Agency. Experienced SBA loan officers will also be available in all of the Disaster Recovery Centers that will be located throughout the disaster area to assist business owners and individuals.

When a disaster occurs, the SBA assists not only small businesses, but also makes loans to homeowners and renters, non-agricultural businesses of all sizes, and nonprofit organizations for their uncompensated losses. SBA provides low-interest, long-term loans (up to 30 years) to repair or replace uninsured or underinsured losses. SBA does not duplicate benefits of other agencies or insurance companies.
