Visitors to this site sometimes mistake the search feature of the Publications Database for a search of all resources on this site. There are many resources on this site that are not based on a Northern Prairie publication and therefore do not appear in the publications database. Conversely, there are many Northern Prairie publications listed in the publications database that are not available electronically on this Web site, but for which reprints are available by writing Northern Prairie (see Reprint Information on the Publications Database page for details). This FAQ adresses the question of how to locate a resource that you know to be available on the Northern Prairie Web site.

The easiest way to find a resource on this site is to use the Resource Finder on the Biological Resources page. The Resource Finder, powered by the USGS search engine, helps users to locate a resource by searching the keywords, title, description, or full-text of every page on the entire site. If you are looking for information of a particular type (e.g., distribution of a plant or animal), a specific taxon, or a certain geographic area, choose from the various categories listed on the Biological Resources page to narrow your search.
