About Us
International Emergency and
Refugee Health Branch (IERHB) of the CDC under the
Division of Emergency and Environmental Health Services (EEHS),
at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH),
at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). IERHB's
mandate is to study, provide technical assistance related to, and respond to
complex humanitarian emergencies.
IERHB has three technical teams. The Complex
Humanitarian Emergency Team (CHET) focuses on diverse health issues related to refugees and other displaced
populations. The War-related Injury Team (WIT) focuses
on the public health impact of armed conflict on civilian populations. The
International Emergency Preparedness Team (IEP) focuses on
the promotion of global health through the effective management of
individual and national emergencies. .
