USGS Mapping Science Software


The USGS maintains a collection of public-domain software developed by or for the USGS, including cartographic, map production and revision, geospatial metadata, and mapping products access applications.

USGS Data Viewer

dlgv32 icon dlgview32. Free Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP software for viewing a variety of USGS digital cartographic data, including digital line graphs (DLG), digital raster graphics (DRG), and a variety of vector, image, and elevation data, including several types of SDTS data.

Topographic Mapping Applications

Cartographic Applications software
USGS-developed computer software for solving geometronic problems in surveying, geodesy, remote sensing, and photogrammetry.
Aero-Triangulation System software
A collection of Fortran and C programs, UNIX shell scripts, and text files used to perform image coordinate refinement, block adjustment, statistical reporting, and plotting.
RevPG (Revision and Product Generation software)
RevPG is a collection of ARC/INFO Arc Macro Language (AML) programs, C routines, shell scripts, and interface menus that support the revision of digital line graph (DLG) data with ARC/INFO.
Spatial Data Transfer Standard (SDTS) Support software
The USGS has developed several software tools to assist programmers with implementing SDTS.
USGS GeoData software
USGS and non-USGS public domain software that can be used to display or manipulate USGS digital data.

Geologic Mapping Applications

GSMCAD
A Windows program for the preparation of geologic maps.
ALACARTE
ALACARTE offers a convenient way to compile geologic maps in the computer as spatial databases that can be used to prepare both cartographic images and analytic derivatives.
