The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A strong earthquake occurred about 80 km (50 miles) south of Kira Kira, San Cristobal at 10:34 AM MST, Nov 11, 2004 (Nov 12 at 4:34 AM local time in Solomon Islands). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. No damage is expected.
