Virtual Field Trips image Garlock Fault Fly-Over -JPL/NASA - this animation starts above the Mojave Desert, California with a view of Lancaster and Palmdale (bright areas at bottom). The San Andreas Fault forms the left edge of the desert and the Garlock Fault forms the right edge. Next, we sweep down to the area around Red Rock Canyon and fly west along the Garlock Fault, passing over the low relief of Tehachapi Pass and ending just past Castaic Lake where Interstate 5 goes through Tejon Pass.

San Andreas Fault Fly-Over -JPL/NASA - this animation starts on the San Andreas Fault just southeast of Palmdale, vistble as the bright area at the rith edge. We then travel west along the fault, passing Lake Palmdale, Elizabeth Lake, and endomg at Quail Lake, all occupying depressions in the fault zone.
