The Colegio Jorge Washington is a private, coeducational day school which offers an educational program from nursery through grade 12 for students of all nationalities. English language instruction begins in pre-kindergarten as a program of instruction for children with little or no English language capability. The School was founded in 1952. The school year comprises 2 semesters extending from early August until mid-December and from mid-January to mid-June.

Organization: The School is governed by a 7-member Board of Directors elected to 2-year terms by the Colegio Jorge Washington Parents Association, which sponsors the school. Membership in the Association is automatically conferred on the parents or guardians of children enrolled in the school.

Curriculum: The curriculum is that of a U.S. college-preparatory school. Instruction is in English and Spanish. A dual program prepares students for both the U.S. High School Diploma and the Colombian Bachillerato degree. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and by the Colombian Ministry of Education. Graduation rate is one hundred percent and students go on to colleges and universities in the United States, Colombia, or Europe.

Faculty: In the 2004-2005 school year, there are 62 full-time faculty members.

Enrollment: At the beginning of the 2004-2005 school year, enrollment was 639 (Nursery: 111; PK-grades 5: 212; grades 6-8: 145; and grades 9-12: 171).
