As women pass beyond their childbearing years they are faced with new issues and decisions about their health: how to manage menopausal symptoms; whether to take hormone replacement therapy (HRT); and how to deal with increasing risks for conditions like heart disease, osteoporosis, and breast cancer. This workbook provides information and guidance to help you decide whether HRT is a good choice for you. Reading and answering the questions in the workbook will also prepare you to discuss HRT with your healthcare provider. This workbook focuses on the risks and benefits of HRT; helps you assess your risks for three important diseases related to HRT: heart disease, osteoporosis, and breast cancer; and makes you better equipped to make a decision about taking HRT. Even if you are already taking HRT, you may want to browse all or parts of this workbook. You may be interested in the latest information about benefits, risks, and alternative strategies for relieving menopausal symptoms and preventing disease. For many women, decisions about taking hormones are made not once, but many times.
