Special Emphasis Observances
In accordance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Title 29 Code of Federal Regulations Part 1614; Office of Personnel Management Guidance on Special Emphasis Programs; the DOI Strategic Plan for Improving Diversity, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Management Directive 110, Special Emphasis Observances are conducted annually to provide cultural awareness and training to employees of the Department of the Interior. A Special Emphasis Observance Committee was organized with representation from each DOI Bureau to carry out the Special Emphasis observance programs.
