The risk of a cancer patient dying from an experimental treatment while participating in a phase 1 clinical trial has decreased substantially, according to a study published in the Nov. 3, 2004, issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

First Evidence That Chemotherapy Extends Life in Advanced Prostate Cancer [Posted: 6/7/2004]

Chemotherapy regimens that include the drug docetaxel extend median survival by two to three months in patients with advanced prostate cancer that is no longer responsive to hormone therapy, according to two phase III clinical trials whose findings were presented at the 2004 ASCO meeting in New Orleans.
