Social Security announces help for disability applicants |
In an effort to help applicants
prepare for their disability interviews and improve the initial disability
claims taking process, a new adult and a revised child disability
starter kit have been developed. The disability starter kits contain
general information about the disability programs and decision-making process,
and specific information about the documents and information we will request.
The kits also provide links to online applications, including the i3368
and the i3820. Beginning April 5, 2004, a kit will be sent to an applicant
when an appointment is made to file for disability benefits.
We believe the kits will be a tangible benefit to applicants and to those
who assist individuals filing for disability benefits. |

Social Security Administration Acts to Protect Benefits for Families of Troops Serving Under Fire |

Commissioner of Social Security, has clarified the Agency’s policies
so that individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI) disability
payments, and Medicaid coverage, can continue to do so even if family income
rises due to a mother, father or spouse receiving special combat-related
supplements to their military pay. |

Commissioner Barnhart: President’s Budget for SSA Shows Commitment to Programs; Confidence in Agency |
President

security, the budget clearly demonstrates the President’s support
for our programs, which touch the lives of nearly every American. |
