Brief Method
Summary:
The method includes alternative enrichment media to minimuze accumulation of volatile acid by-products derived from growth of potentially antagonistic bacteria. Subsequent concentration by membrane filter or centifugation is recommended depending on sample turbidity. Sequential incubation on two media leads to evalutaion of TSI and LIA slants for reactions that may presumptively identify Shigella spp. Incubation Time: 48 - 72h. Technique: Culture.
