New York State Water Classifications 6NYCRR Parts 800- 941
(currently unavailable): The New York State water classifications are descriptive designations assigned under state regulations to all waters in the State, defining the best way each body of water can be used. The classification is the legal basis for water quality protection programs.

The classifications of all water body segments in New York State are contained in 6NYCRR Parts 800-941. 6NYCRR Parts 800-941 includes the name of the individual water body segment, a physical description of the individual water body segment, a reference to the associated map where the segment can be located, the  classification of the segment, and the standards assigned to that segment.

Hard copies of the classifications and associated information for each individual water body segment, under 6NYCRR Parts 800-941, are available for inspection and copying as part of the Regional CWA water quality standards docket at the U.S. EPA Region 2, 290 Broadway, New York, N.Y. 10007. To access this information Mr. Wayne Jackson may be contacted at (212) 637-3807. This information is also available at New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), 50 Wolf Road.
