Washington's 8th Congressional
District is located just east of the city of Seattle, including
most of eastern King County (known as the Eastside), and much of
rural Pierce County. The district is bordered on to the west by
Lake Washington, including Mercer Island, and on the east by the
Cascade Mountains. To the north, the district is bordered by the
City of Kirkland, and including areas of Redmond and Woodinville,
before heading east through rural King County. To the south, the
district includes much of Mount Rainier National Park and runs west
to include portions of the City of Puyallup. Some of the cities
in the Eighth District include: Bellevue, Maple Valley, Sammamish,
Issaquah, North Bend, Enumclaw, Duvall, Eatonville, Newcastle, Bonney
Lake, Buckley, South Prairie, Black Diamond, Medina, Yarrow Point,
Hunts Point.
The Eastside and the areas to the south have become a center of
growth for the Pacific Northwest. High-tech companies such as Microsoft
and Nintendo of America, as well as companies such as Boeing and
PACCAR, are just a sample of the businesses that have kept the area
growing and economically strong, providing a environment for future
economic growth.
Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, which form the eastern
and western borders of the district, offer year-round opportunities
for enjoying the outdoors, whether your preference is skiing in
the winter, sailing in the summer, or hiking and cycling in the
spring and fall.
