Accessing EPA's Drinking Water Data in SDWIS/FED

There are several ways to access Safe Drinking Water Information System/Federal Version (SDWIS/FED) data. These include the following, starting with the simplest:
  1. Browse and/or download hard copy reports

  2. The following summary tables include inventory data on water systems, violations reported by violation type and by contaminant/rule, and official Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) data.
  3. Access data on individual water systems on-line through Envirofacts.

  4. These include basic inventory data, violations reported, and enforcement actions taken against individual water systems since 1993.
You can also access aggregated information on all violations reported in your EPA region, state, and county since 1993 using the MS Excel PivotTables®. See below.

  5. Download and manipulate SDWIS/FED data in MS Excel PivotTables®

  6. These multidimensional tables contain aggregated information on water systems; violations reported by violation type and by contaminant/rule, and GPRA data, for each year since 1993; and current Envirofacts data. You can sort, categorize, and analyze the data across several dimensions.
Your feedback will help us better meet your drinking water data needs.
