Representative Pat Toomey (R-PA) represents the 15th District of Pennsylvania, which includes Northampton County, Lehigh County, and a portion of Montgomery County. The district includes 646,000 people.  The district is located in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

The Lehigh Valley has contributed greatly to Pennsylvania’s rich history of steelmaking, fueled by the region’s close proximity to ore.

Bethlehem is known around the world as “Christmas City USA.” This city received its name when a branch of the oldest Protestant denomination in the world gathered in the area on Christmas in 1741. The Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce in 1937 began highlighting Bethlehem’s unique history, and it has become the country’s Christmas city. Bethlehem also was home to Bethlehem Steel. The iron and steel industries have always played an important role for the area, and for the cities in the 15th District.

Allentown, in the early 1800s, was at the center of the nation’s grain producing regions. Allentown’s maturity as a city was ushered by the industrial revolution, which was born in the Lehigh Valley. During the Revolutionary War, the Liberty Bell was hidden in a church in Allentown to prevent it from falling into the hands of opposing troops. The 15th District's economy initially was forged by the industrial revolution, but today enjoys a more diversified economy.
