RECOMMENDING

REASON FOR
ALERT: Review of data for FY 86, 87, and 88 has revealed
extensive Salmonella contamination problems of
frog legs from Bangladesh. Problems have been
identified in entries from 12 shippers in
25 shipments. Therefore, all shipments
of frog legs from Bangladesh (except from shippers
listed on attachment B) should be ***detained without
physical examination*** due to Salmonella contamination.
Additionally, the shippers, listed on Attachment A
were previously under ***detention without physical
examination*** for shipping Salmonella contaminated
frog legs, have had entries detained within the past
2 years, and have not offered evidence that their product is
Salmonella free.
GUIDANCE : ***Districts may detain, without physical examination,***
all shipments of frog legs from Bangladesh (except from those
shippers listed on Attachment B) and from specific shippers
from other countries identified on Attachment A.
