Reclamation Commissioner John Keys to Recognize Farmers Irrigation District for Water 2025 Challenge Grant Award


Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner John Keys will be in Hood River, Ore., on Wednesday, October 20, to participate in an event recognizing the award of a Water 2025 Challenge Grant to Farmers Irrigation District.

What: Commissioner Keys will recognize Farmers Irrigation District's $300,000 Water 2025 Challenge Grant award.

Where: The event will take place at Farmers Irrigation District Office, 1985 Country Club Road, Hood River, Oregon (driving directions below)

Why: The grant will help Farmers Irrigation District implement water conservation and efficiency improvement projects on their water delivery systems. The Farmers Irrigation District received a grant of $300,000 which will enable them to keep from 1,500-3,500 acre-feet of water in-stream, benefiting fish and wildlife.

Driving directions: From I-84, take exit 62 and go south to Country Club Road. Go right (west) onto Country Club Road and follow it approximately 3 miles to the first stop sign. Go right (west) at the stop sign, still on Country Club Road. Follow Country Club Road approximately 3 more miles. The Farmers Irrigation District office is approximately ¼ miles south past County Club Golf Course, on the left, down a gravel driveway. The address is 1985 Country Club Road.

The Water 2025 Challenge Grants – administered by the Bureau of Reclamation – provide local irrigation districts throughout the West with matching funds to support a variety of projects to make more efficient use of existing water supplies through water conservation, efficiency, and water market projects.
