Using the Internet, visitors are able to
learn more about NASA hot topics, uncover some treasures of NASA's history
related to the Moon, read electronic news stories on current NASA mission
events, view the NASA TV education video schedule and watch the videos
over the web, and, finally, subscribe to an array of NASA public and education
news and announcement services.
The site highlights work by USDA
scientists who search overseas for natural controls to weed and insect
pests, as alternatives to pesticides. To get their jobs done, some scientists
rode elephants, coped with leeches, and watched out for tigers and rhinos,
all the while meeting and working closely with people from vastly different
cultures.
The National Science Foundation is proud
to participate in Global Science and Technology Week (GSTW). GSTW celebrates
the expanding opportunity for the world's best scientific minds to transcend
national boundaries and collaborate on new discoveries and shared global
problems. Research and education in science and engineering benefit immensely
from international cooperation. The selected NSF-supported research and
education activities highlight both the international nature of science
and engineering and the importance of math and science education in today's
era of globalization.
