NASA proudly supports
Global Science and Technology Week
NASA
is coordinating an electronic linkage campaign that will feature a variety
of resources that will be of interest to educators, students, and the general
public. Special emphasis will be placed on how NASA-developed technologies,
expertise, or know-how have made a difference in our everyday lives. Areas
covered include communication, food-nutrition, health-medicine, remote sensing,
and transportation.
The Department of
Agriculture has joined with representatives from public and private
organizations to develop activities to support the Global Science and Technology Week theme: "Science
and Technology: Serving our Global Community" To underscore this
year's GSTW theme, activities and materials are listed on this website to
help parents, teachers, scientists, engineers and mathematicians excite
K-12 students about the world of agriculture, a science-based global
enterprise that encourages the advancement of math and science.
The
JASON Project is a
multi-disciplinary program that sparks the imagination of students and enhances
the classroom experience. From oceans to rain forests, from polar regions to
volcanoes, the JASON Project explores Planet Earth and exposes students to
leading scientists who work with them to examine its biological and geological
development. From the depths of dark
oceans to the heights of wet rain forests, from icy Polar Regions to red-hot
volcanoes, the JASON Project travels the world, taking students and teachers on
an exciting educational adventure.

Explore careers that
use science, math and technology at a jazzy multimedia website called www.GetTech.org. There you will find teacher lesson
guides containing 15-minute modules to introduce your students to careers
and professions they've never imagined – careers using science, math and
technology skills and jobs that are fast growing, high paying, and
exciting. The website is for
everyone, and will broaden horizons for students, parents and
teachers.
GetTech is a public-private partnership between the
U.S. Department of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers and
its Center for Workforce Success.
FIGURE THIS!
Mathematics Challenges for Families engages families in the math that their
middle school students should know. The
core of Figure This! is math challenges.
The challenges are exciting activities that can be done at home and that
help show how math is used in the real world.
All the challenges are online at www.figurethis.org.
Fun Food Stuff is a

Reality….
The Natural Heritage Center is
dedicated to the production of effective educational materials on
biodiversity and sustainable practices.
This site describes the educational tools available to educators,
communities, and citizens with interests in understanding the diversity of
life and how nature works.
The Institute
for Electrical and electronics engineers (IEEE) and its local Sections
have a commitment to the enhancement of the level of technological literacy,
science and mathematics among pre-college educators and ultimately their
students.
The EnvironMentors Project matches urban teenagers with
environmental and scienceprofessionals.
The pairs work together for eight months on environmentally oriented
research or community service projects.
The mentoring is supplemented with special events and seminars and
culminates in a science fair and awards ceremony where participants are
recognized for their work.
