Clean Water Act Recognition Awards

Clean Water Act Recognition Awards

The awards recognize industrial organizations and political subdivisions of States, including Tribal Nations and U.S. military commands for demonstrating outstanding technological achievements or an innovative process, method or device in their waste treatment and pollution abatement programs. The objectives of the program are to educate the public about the contributions that wastewater treatment facilities make to clean water; to encourage public support for municipal and industrial efforts in effective wastewater management, biosolids management, and wet weather pollution control; and to recognize communities that go much beyond the minimum needed to meet Clean Water Act requirements.

A regulation at 40 CFR part 105 establishes a framework for the annual recognition awards program. See Federal Register [67 FR 6138, February 8, 2002].

The guidance for the 2004 awards is available and includes instructions, operating rules and forms to apply for the awards. Part A is for the Operations and Excellence Awards", Part B is for the Exemplary Biosolids Management Awards", and Part C is for the Pretreatment, Storm Water Management and Combined Sewer Overflow Excellence Awards.
