President Bush Announced His Intention to Nominate One and Appoint One Individual to Serve in His Administration
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one
individual and his intention to appoint one individual to serve in his
administration.
The President intends to nominate Alan G. Lance to be a Judge of
the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims for a term of
thirteen years. Lance has served as the Attorney General of Idaho
since 1994. He served as a Member of the Idaho House of
Representatives from 1991 to 1994, and he was an attorney in private
practice from 1978 to 1994. Lance was also the National Commander of
the American Legion from 1999 to 2000. He is a former member of the
United States Army, a graduate of South Dakota State University and
University of Toledo College of Law.
The President intends to appoint Zoraida Fonalledas of Puerto Rico
to be a Member of the President's Committee on Mental Retardation for
the remainder of a two-year term expiring May 11, 2003.
