Laura Bush is keenly aware of the opportunity she has to share her love of reading with Americans, especially young children. From Morningside Elementary School in San Fernando, California, to Race for the Cure in Washington, D.C., this former public school teacher and librarian is using her role to highlight important issues, such as teacher recruitment and early childhood cognitive development, which compliment President Bush's national education goals.
