Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate
one individual to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate James B. Comey, of New York, to
be Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice. Comey
currently serves as United States Attorney for the Southern District of
New York, where he has served since January of 2002. Prior to being
appointed to this position, he served as Managing Assistant U.S.
Attorney in charge of the Richmond Division of the Office of United
States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He earlier
served in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New
York, eventually serving as Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division.
Comey is a graduate of The College of William and Mary, and earned his
law degree from the University of Chicago.
