Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals and designate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate Jon Robert Purnell, of Massachusetts, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Mr. Purnell currently serves as Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. Previously he served as Senior Inspector with the Office of the Inspector General for the U.S. Department of State. Prior to this position Mr. Purnell served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brown University and his master's degree from Harvard University.

The President intends to nominate Thomas Riley, of California, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Morocco. Currently Mr. Riley serves as President of Active Photo in Mountain View, California. He previously served in the same position for Web State, Inc., Unity Systems and the General Resources Corporation. Earlier in his career, Mr. Riley served as a Program Manager for Robinton Products. He earned his bachelor's degree from Stanford University and his master's degree from Harvard University.

The President intends to designate Brian Carlton Roseboro, of New Jersey, to be Acting Under Secretary of the Treasury (Domestic Finance).
