Precision and Accuracy Data
AQSP&A
The Air Quality System Precision & Accuracy Generator (AQSP&A)
may be used to create AQS data input transactions for precision and
accuracy data. This application works with the newer editions
of Windows (2000, NT, XP). AQSP&A is a stand-alone Excel
workbook, intended to provide you with a simple way to create the 2
AQS data input transactions used for uploading accuracy data
(transaction type RA) and precision data (transaction type RP). The
transactions are created in the new AQS format with vertical bar
delimiters. A
User Guide (pdf) for this approach is available from the "Manual
and Guides" page.
PARSV2
The Precision and Accuracy Reporting System application was
designed to facilitate the entry and processing of Precision and
Accuracy Reporting System Version 2 (PARSV2) data into the Federal AQS application. This is an
older Windows version of the Precision
and Accuracy Reporting System (PARS) application that agencies have
been using for many years.
As of July 1, 2004, we will no longer be
supporting PARSV2. We are withdrawing support for PARSV2 for
the following reasons:
- Many users have experienced operating
problems when attempting to run this software in Windows 2000
or newer operating systems.
- The summary statistical reports do not generate correct
numbers for PM2.5 calculations, and possibly other parameters.
If decimal point indicator values other than zero are used,
then there is a likelihood that values that should be excluded
from the summary statistical calculations are actually being
incorporated. Please note that this does not impact the
integrity of the transactions themselves; the data is being
formatted and loaded into AQS correctly. But the PARS report
statistics may not match the AQS P&A report statistics.
- There are other ways to build precision and accuracy
transactions.

Precision and Accuracy Reporting System Version 2(PARSV2)
works in the following way. You enter Precision and Accuracy data
from data sheets, or import data from existing files into a
database. The data is then validated against criteria coded in
the program, using parameter files. If the data is clean, then it
can be exported in a format suitable for uploading to existing AQS
application. It can then be placed in a screening file, and
processed through AQS.
PARS v2
Installation instructions: If this is your first installation of
PARS, download all 3 files listed below. If you previously
downloaded the same version of the mainfram.dbf (i.e., same size, date,
and time) you do not need to download it again. Complete
installation instructions are included in the parsv2b.txt file below.
Run the parsv2b_setup.exe file. You will need to know the
directory name where you downloaded the mainfram.dbf file. (This is critical because the States.exe
program depends on the Mainfram.dbf file as a source of data. Without the
Mainfram.dbf the states.exe program will fail.)
If you
originally installed PARSv2 somewhere other than to the default directory
(c:\program files\pars), you will get an error message that the parsv2.txt
file cannot be found. This error will not prevent proper
installation of parsv2b, however, you may want to review it again before
continuing with this installation. |
