Pacific Islands Contact Office (PICO)EPA ’s Pacific Islands Contact Office (PICO) in Honolulu helps the public in Hawaii and the Pacific Islands to access EPA's extensive environmental information resources. Located at the crossroads of the Pacific, PICO serves as a contact point and liaison between EPA and the State of Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. PICO also serves as a home base for visiting EPA staff and environmental officials of the Pacific Islands during temporary duty in Hawaii. PICO handles the logistics of EPA-sponsored meetings, conferences, hearings, workshops and training seminars held in Hawaii. PICO helps connect the Hawaii news media with EPA staff in Pacific Southwest Regional Office in San Francisco, California, and EPA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. PICO also helps reporters by providing background information for environmental news stories. The PICO staff conduct outreach to Hawaii schools, colleges and community groups and participate in environmental events.
