Visitor Information

The main office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 9 is located at 75 Hawthorne Street in downtown San Francisco. Visitors may come to 75 Hawthorne Street for conferences, meetings, and use of the Environmental Information Center.

Directions to 75 Hawthorne

By Transit:

Via BART or Muni:

Exit from the Montgomery Station to New Montgomery and Market Streets. Turn right (south) on New Montgomery Street. Walk two blocks south to Howard Street and turn right. Make a quick left onto Hawthorne Street. Proceed for half a block. 75 Hawthorne Street is a 20-story building on your left.

Via CalTrain:

Exit from the Caltrain Station (Fourth & Townsend). Cross Fourth Street from the train station, catch either the #15, #30, or #45 bus lines. Get off at Third Street and Folsom. Walk half a block to your right (east) on Folsom Street to Hawthorne Street. Take a left on Hawthorne Street. Proceed for half a block. 75 Hawthorne is a 20-story building on your right.


By Car:

From San Francisco International Airport and the South Bay:

Take U.S. 101 North (101 merges into Interstate-80 East). Then take the 4th Street exit, and this will put you on Bryant Street. Proceed for one block. Then take a left onto 3rd Street and proceed on 3rd Street for 4 blocks. Make a right onto Mission Street. Make a right onto New Montgomery. Moving into the far left lane, make a right turn onto Howard Street (all lanes must turn right). Make the first left onto Hawthorne Street. Proceed for half a block. 75 Hawthorne Street is a 20-story building on your left.

From the East Bay:

Cross over the Bay Bridge (on Interstate-80 West) to San Francisco. Take the Fremont Street exit (the first San Francisco exit). This will put you directly onto Fremont Street. At the first stoplight, turn left onto Howard Street and stay in the far left lane. Proceed on Howard Street past 3 stoplights. At the fourth stoplight, make a left turn onto Hawthorne Street. Proceed for half a block. 75 Hawthorne Street is a 20-story building on your left.

From the Golden Gate Bridge:

Take U.S. 101 South across the Golden Gate Bridge. Then, take the Lombard Street exit to Van Ness Avenue. Turning right onto Van Ness Avenue, proceed approximately 2 miles south to Grove Street. Then, turn left onto Grove Street. Proceed for 3 blocks to Market Street. Crossing Market Street, Grove Street turns into 8th Street. Proceed on 8th Street for one block to Mission Street. Turn left (east) onto Mission Street, and proceed until New Montgomery (1 block past 3rd Street). Make a right onto New Montgomery. Moving into the far left lane, make a right turn onto Howard Street (all lanes must turn right). Make the first left onto Hawthorne Street. Proceed for half a block. 75 Hawthorne Street is a 20-story building on your left.

Parking:

Parking is available at the Moscone Convention Center on Third Steet between Howard and Folsom Streets. Prices are approx. $2/hr ($18 max per day; garage closes at midnight). There is additional parking under the freeway between Third and Fourth Streets for $10/day. Metered street parking is also available.


By Bicycle:

Adequate bicycle access is available from many points within San Francisco. Consult the
San Francisco Bicycle route map
. Folsom Street has a full bicycle lane and crosses Hawthorne Street. Secure bicycle racks are located within the Hawthorne garage under the building.
