**COMING SOON**
"Water Star" Water Efficiency/Sustainable Infrastructure Program (OWM)
A program to enhance the market place for water-efficient products, is currently under development. We are working with a broad base of both internal and external stakeholders to design the program. A number of approaches are being considered: product labeling, design competitions, mass purchasing, voluntary standards, outreach and education, and the like. We have held four stakeholder meetings, invited comments on program development and design, and are currently conducting research on other programs, candidate products, and the various markets in order to develop and make decisions on program options. MSD briefed the Voluntary Programs Workgroup on June 24, 2004.
Decentralized Wastewater Systems (OWM)
The Municipal Technology Branch manages a voluntary program to improve the performance of decentralized (septic) systems. By way of background, we have a program strategy that was reviewed by Tracy Mehan, the OW office directors and the Regions, and is currently being finalized. The strategy is an item in the Scout Report scheduled for completion this month. We plan to brief Ben Grumbles once Jim Hanlon has been briefed. Attached is the latest draft strategy.
